Staff at a Glastonbury care provider are celebrating the successful completion of qualifications in a variety of subjects.

Candlelight Care has always been an active supporter of further training, not just in statutory subjects but anything which will help its staff to develop their careers and remain happy in their roles.

Reflecting this policy, registered managers Lorna Kent and Tracy Weare have now completed the First Aid for Mental Health Diploma, an internationally recognised training course designed to teach people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health and provide help on a first aid basis.

At the same time new recruit Carrie Hurved, recruitment lead at the C24 live-in care team, has successfully completed a Level 3 CPD in Recruitment and Social Media. All three passed their courses with distinction.

Cherry Catley-Day, proprietor of Candlelight Care, said: "Candlelight Care is always delighted to support our staff to develop their careers.

"The training which Lorna and Tracy have undertaken is significant not just for them but for our entire organisation, as it will encourage people to talk more freely about mental health, something which we know has been affected by the pandemic.

"Carrie's qualification, while different, is equally important as it shows the variety of careers available within the care sector."

Candlelight Care is a family-run company offering homecare and live-in care services in Dorset, Somerset, Wiltshire and East Sussex.

With a head office in Glastonbury, it has been caring for people of all ages in their own homes for more than 30 years and its services are rated 'Good' by the Care Quality Commission.
