St Dunstan's School in Glastonbury has paid tribute to former teacher Gordon Allen, who passed away on April 28, aged 85.

Gordon William Thomas Allen was born on January 30 1935, and his funeral was held at the Mendip Crematorium, near Wells, last Thursday (May 7).

A spokesperson for St Dunstan's told Glastonbury Nub News: "The St Dunstan's School community are sorry to hear of the passing of Gordon Allen who worked at St Dunstan's from 1973 to 1990.

"Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.

"Gordon was affectionately known as Gus by the students. He started at St Dunstan's as head of English and was then head of upper school.

"He was a lovely man, a true gentleman, very intelligent and loved the students."
