Glastonbury school holds its 2019 Prom

By Guest 16th Jul 2021

St Dunstan's School Year 11 class of 2019 were all together for the final time for their leavers' day and prom on Thursday, July 4.

The staff at the school in Glastonbury all gathered for a very entertaining assembly where they looked back fondly on the five years the students had spent at the school.

There was an underlying poignancy to the event as the school remembered Amy who was lost last year; but the school staff and students were delighted that Amy's parents were able to join the day and to see the memorial garden created in her honour.

In the evening, parents, friends and teachers gathered to see Year 11 arrive in style for their prom. And what style they showed - gleaming tractors, roaring British bikes and sleek sports cars delivered the students to their prom and turned every head outside Wells Cathedral.

After their show-stopping arrivals, students and staff moved to the Swan Hotel in Wells where they enjoyed a meal and an evening of great fun as certificates were issued and memories shared.

Again, Amy was remembered as students had elected to theme the decorations in her favourite colours.

A montage of pictures of Amy was on display and Amy's dad brought her two best friends to prom in his sports car.

Finally, students danced the night away – all were amazed to see Elijah and Ellis' choreographed routine to Stayin' Alive by the Bee Gees.
