Here's what's happening in Street, Glastonbury, Wells, and Shepton Mallet this weekend.

The weekend kicks off in Glastonbury with John Otway performing live at the Red Brick Building from 8:00pm–10:30pm. The rock legend is known for his quirky performances and unique style, promising an unforgettable evening of music.

For those looking for a quieter evening, Spoken Word at Timo's Café is happening on Benedict Street at 7:00pm. This relaxed event showcases local writers, poets, and storytellers in an informal setting. More details here

Shepton Mallet offers a blast from the past with DJ Night: 90s vs 00s with Matt Ettle at The Art Bank Café from 7:00pm–11:00pm. Get ready to relive the best hits from the 90s and 00s.

On Saturday, 21st September, the Somerset Art Weeks Festival is running all day from 10:00am–5:00pm at Somerset Crafts in the Avalon Marshes Centre, Westhay. The festival celebrates local creativity, featuring a wide range of Somerset artists.

In Wells, the Glastonbury Crystal & Gem Show will be held at Coxley Village Hall from 10:00am–5:00pm, showcasing beautiful crystals and gemstones for enthusiasts and collectors alike, and if you're in need of some relaxation, Mini Wellness Retreat at Glastonbury Abbey offers a tranquil morning from 10:00am–1:00pm, with wellness activities to help recharge your body and mind.

Crafters will love the Stitching4All Show at the Bath & West Showground in Shepton Mallet, running all day from 10:00am. The event features over 100 sewing workshops, craft stalls, and a mini catwalk. Be sure to meet Asmaa, the winner of BBC's Sewing Bee, who will be at the event throughout the weekend. The East Somerset Railway in Shepton Mallet will be hosting their autumn recruitment drive, starting at 10.30am.

Music lovers can head to Wells to catch Rudimentalists performing live at The White Hart from 8:00pm–11:00pm, and for those who love a good quiz, the Wells City Carnival Quiz Night is taking place at Wells City Football Club from 7:00pm–10:00pm, offering a fun and competitive evening.

Start your Sunday with some creative inspiration at Craft Drop-ins at The Old Stores Studio in Evercreech. Running from 10:00am–3:00pm, it's a chance to try various crafts in a friendly, welcoming environment.

Looking ahead, Wookey Hole's Halloween Wonderland kicks off on 5th October, transforming the caves into a magical, spooky destination for the whole family. Visitors can enjoy cave tours, pumpkin trails, and even the spooky circus shows. The event runs until 3rd November, with plenty of family-friendly activities on offer - more details here
