Wookey Hole's famous caves are set to take on an even spookier atmosphere this year, as the legendary attraction near Wells unveils its newest Halloween spectacle—the Blood Moon.

As part of its 2024 Halloween celebrations, visitors will have the rare chance to see the moon inside the caves transformed into an eerie, blood-red glow, adding an extra thrill to the already mysterious setting.

The Blood Moon will be a highlight of Wookey Hole's Halloween event, which will run on weekends from 5 October and every day from 26 October to 3 November. The transformation of the cave's moon into a deep crimson hue is sure to captivate visitors as they explore the haunted passages and immerse themselves in the eerie ambiance.

This year's Halloween festivities at Wookey Hole promise to be one of the most magical and spine-tingling yet, with a line-up of activities designed for the whole family. Guests can look forward to the return of the popular Wookey Hole Circus with a special show inspired by ghost ships and spooky pirates, along with a Giant Pumpkin Trail, a daily fancy dress competition, and a Halloween-themed adventure golf course.

Ellen Ramsay, spokesperson for the Cottle Family, who own Wookey Hole, said: "Wookey Hole is the home of the legendary Witch, and we love celebrating the spookiest time of the year in style. This year's Blood Moon is a brand-new addition, and we're excited for visitors to see how the caves have been transformed into an even more magical and spooky experience!"

In addition to the Blood Moon, guests will exit the caves through a spectacular Wookey Hole pumpkin patch, featuring over 600 pumpkins that add a vibrant splash of Halloween colour to the adventure. The village of Wookey Hole itself will also join in the fun, with residents decorating their homes in a whimsical display of scarecrow witches, creating a delightful trail for visitors to follow.

For those keen to make a night of it, Wookey Hole is offering staycation packages at the Wookey Hole Hotel, allowing guests to fully immerse themselves in the Halloween magic. With ticket prices starting from £19 for children and £24 for adults, this is set to be one of the most enchanting Halloween experiences in the area.
