Work is well underway at the St Dunstan's House Community Health and Wellbeing Centre in Glastonbury, with Glastonbury Nub sponsors Melhuish and Saunders leading the construction efforts. This significant project, supported by Glastonbury Town Council, aims to create a vital new community facility in the heart of the town.

The restoration of the historic St Dunstan's House, coupled with the addition of a modern atrium at Glastonbury Town Hall, will provide a central location for health and wellbeing services, community gatherings, business advice, and support services. The £2.16 million project is co-funded by the Towns Fund, contributing £1.36 million, with an additional £800,000 in co-funding.

Key outcomes of the project include improving the health and well-being of local residents, offering accessible meeting spaces, and fostering business growth. The centre will also include a Changing Places Toilet, ensuring it caters to all community members.

The project aligns with key themes of improving health and wellbeing, reducing deprivation, and supporting economic growth in Glastonbury. The new facility will address the town's need for COVID-secure spaces for community groups and provide outreach spaces for career and business support.

Melhuish and Saunders, who are spearheading the works, have already installed a rainwater attenuation tank, with the next stage involving the connection of drainage systems. Scaffolding has been erected to facilitate roof repairs, and the area for the rear extension—where the Changing Places Toilet will be located—has been prepared for foundation work.

Construction is expected to continue through the coming months, with completion scheduled for mid-2025. This new development is set to provide Glastonbury with a much-needed hub for health, well-being, and community services
