A Glastonbury-based construction company has been announced as the new sponsor of one of Somerset's major county football competitions.

Somerset FA has confirmed that Melhuish & Saunders Ltd will become the title sponsor of the Somerset FA Men's Senior Cup for the remainder of the 2025/26 season and the 2026/27 season.

The competition will now be known as the Melhuish & Saunders Men's Senior Cup, with the partnership designed to support grassroots football across the county.

Melhuish & Saunders is a principal building contractor based in Glastonbury, delivering construction projects across Somerset and the wider South West. The company works across sectors including education, healthcare, commercial, residential and community developments.

Managing director Darryl Mitchard said the sponsorship reflects the company's commitment to the local community and grassroots sport.

He said: "At Melhuish & Saunders, we've built our reputation on strong foundations, quality, teamwork and commitment, which are values that closely align with grassroots football.

"Supporting our local community is a very important part of what we do, so becoming title sponsor of the Somerset FA Men's Senior Cup is something we're extremely proud of."

He added that the partnership also has a local link, with Somerset FA based nearby at Landmark House in Glastonbury.

"With Somerset FA being our neighbours at Landmark House in Glastonbury, it makes it even more special to be able to support them, as well as everyone who plays a pivotal role in their clubs," he said.

"If we can help support the volunteers, players and communities that make local football so important, then that's a great thing. We're excited to build a strong, long-term partnership and help the competition continue to thrive."

The county cup competition brings together clubs from across Somerset and is one of the longest-running fixtures in the county football calendar.
