Recent crime statistics for June 2024 have been released, revealing 101 crimes recorded in Street and 113 in Glastonbury. The statistics, available on the Avon and Somerset Police website, provide a breakdown of crime types and demonstrate the ongoing challenges faced by the police in these areas.

In Street, 36 incidents of violent crime were recorded in June, making it the most prevalent type of crime in the area. Public order offences followed, with 21 incidents reported. Other notable categories included anti-social behaviour (13), shoplifting (9), and burglary (8).

Glastonbury saw a similar trend, with 46 violent crimes making up a significant portion of the town's crime reports. Anti-social behaviour was also prominent, with 21 incidents reported, followed by other theft (11) and public order offences (14).

A spokesperson from Avon and Somerset Police said: "We want to assure residents that we are focusing our patrols and resources on areas of need, and we encourage the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity."

The police explained that anti-social behaviour (ASB) is a broad category that can include issues such as fly-tipping, noise disturbances, and personal disputes. These reports help determine where increased patrols and interventions are needed.
