A Street businesswoman who built a trauma and crime scene cleaning company from scratch after facing homelessness will feature in a new Channel 4 documentary series launching this month.

Laura Summers, 23, from Street, is among the professionals followed in Crime Scene Cleaners, a ten-part series offering unprecedented access to specialist cleaning crews in both the UK and US.

The show, which begins on Monday 30 June at 10pm, follows hazmat teams as they respond to some of the most distressing and hazardous environments imaginable—including drug dens, murder scenes, suicides, arson and unattended deaths.

Summers appears in two episodes, airing on 1 and 8 September, alongside her team at The Sleek Easy Clean Ltd. The firm, which she founded in 2022 after posting a Facebook advert for cleaning services, now employs nearly 50 people and handles specialist crime scene, trauma and biohazard cleaning across the South West.

"We loved every second, even though we had to work slightly slower than normal while filming," she said. "It's exciting to be able to show how important our line of work is."

The Sleek Easy Clean Ltd - which is in the process of moving from their Street offices to new premises in Glastonbury - is regularly called to crime scenes and high-risk environments. Their services include needle sweeps, drug den clearance, decomposition response, hoarding support and infection control, often carried out under hazardous and emotionally challenging conditions.

The business recently launched a property maintenance division, enabling the same team to carry out repairs after a traumatic event. "There's a natural crossover," said Summers. "In hoarding cases, for example, you often find damp floors or damaged walls. We can sort the clean and the fix—with one team, one number, one point of contact."

The series also includes commentary from forensic psychiatrists and detectives, with cleaners speaking candidly about the emotional toll of their work. Despite growing national attention—including an appearance on ITV News—Summers remains hands-on and continues to clean seven days a week.
