Glastonbury Abbey Run the Ruins 10k returns for 2026
By Laura Linham 4th Mar 2026
Runners will once again take on the historic grounds of Glastonbury Abbey this summer as the Run the Ruins event returns for 2026.
The Run the Ruins Longest Day 10k will take place at Glastonbury Abbey on Sunday, 21 June 2026, with the early morning event running from 6 am to 11 am across the abbey's 36-acre site in Somerset.
Organisers say the trail-style course winds through the abbey ruins and landscaped grounds, offering a mixture of surfaces including lawn, gravel paths and woodland tracks.
The route will also include narrow single-track sections through wooded areas, bridges and stretches running alongside the abbey ruins.
Race options
Participants can choose from five different race formats depending on distance and pace:
• Option 1 – 10k with a 120-minute time limit (ages 16+)
• Option 2 – 5k with a 120-minute time limit (ages 16+)
• Option 3 – 2.5k run or walk with a 120-minute time limit (ages 12+)
• Option 4 – 10k to be completed within 60 minutes (ages 16+)
• Option 5 – 5k to be completed within 60 minutes (ages 16+)
Options one to three are aimed at fun runners or those looking to set their own pace across the distance.
Faster runners can enter the competitive options, including a timed 10k challenge which also features two sprint sections of 100 metres and 200 metres.
Wheelchair athletes can take part in the 5k fun run option.
Tickets for the event are available through the Glastonbury Abbey website. Organisers are advising participants to read the full race information and event terms before registering.
