Strode College's 2024 Student Awards celebrated student achievements with 40 awards, new Eavis music prize, and highlighted community and personal growth.

It was a night of cheers, tears, and triumph as Strode College rolled out the red carpet for its 2024 Student Awards Evening. Held at the Strode Theatre, the ceremony celebrated nearly 100 standout students whose stories of determination and achievement lit up the stage.

In front of proud friends, family, and staff, 40 awards were handed out to those who went above and beyond—many overcoming significant challenges to reach their goals.

The event highlighted not just academic excellence but also the resilience and personal growth that underpin success.

Guests were treated to elegant canapés prepared by the college's own hospitality students before the main event got underway.

Winners took home certificates, vouchers, and gleaming star-shaped glass trophies.

John Revill, Principal and Chief Executive, praised the honourees, saying:

"This evening is about recognising individual achievement and the journeys students have experienced in order to achieve their personal best."

Somerset's Vice-Lord Lieutenant, Mr. Ted Allen, took to the podium with words of wisdom on integrity and perseverance:

"There will be knockbacks—but rise above rejection," he urged. "Respect your colleagues and employers, stay true to yourself, and be kind."

A sparkling new addition to the ceremony was the Eavis Award for Young Local Talent, sponsored by the family behind the world-famous Glastonbury Festival.

With a £100 prize, the award supports aspiring musicians aiming to hit the high notes in their creative careers.

Emily Eavis said: "I'm delighted to play a part in establishing this award at our local College. Music plays such an important role in our lives, and it's a privilege to support the next generation of talent."

Also spotlighted was the Adult Student of the Year award, backed by Mindful Education, which recognised excellence in lifelong learning.

From standing ovations to heartfelt speeches, the night confirmed what many already know: Strode College isn't just about qualifications—it's about community, confidence, and unlocking potential.
