Strode College students will continue their studies under the new UCS College Group structure.

A new educational chapter has begun in Somerset following the formal merger of Strode College and Bridgwater & Taunton College into the University Centre Somerset College Group (UCS College Group).

The new group aims to broaden educational opportunities and strengthen community ties across the county.

It combines the resources and expertise of both institutions under one umbrella, positioning UCS College Group as one of the largest further and higher education providers in England.

Andy Berry CBE, Chief Executive of the new group, said: "This is a milestone moment for Somerset. We're bringing together the strengths of each college to give local people more choice, better support, and more pathways to success. Whichever pathway students choose to take – A levels, university or employment – UCS College Group will help them get there."

The restructuring will see each Bridgwater & Taunton College campus become an individual college: Bridgwater College, Cannington College, and Taunton College.

Strode College will continue under its existing name.

University Centre Somerset, the higher education branch, remains integral to the group.

Louise Rowley, Executive Principal, said: "I'm really excited. We are creating a dynamic and inclusive learning environment where every student can realise their potential, discover their passions, and gain the skills to thrive in an ever-changing world."

Students enrolling this September will remain on their chosen courses with the same staff and campuses, now supported by the expanded group infrastructure.
