A singer songwriter is recording a video for her new single in Glastonbury today (October 18) after recently signing a multi-album deal.

Rosie Smith is releasing her single Breakfast for Dinner on her 22nd birthday, October 29, and she is filming the video today at the Sonus Magus music shop in Glastonbury.

She has signed with ESBF Records, and the producers are a team called Scorpius who have written and produced records for a number of top artists including Celine Dion and Kylie Minogue.

An ESBF spokesperson said: "It is not often you come across such a young talent so able to write, produce and perform songs of such quality so effortlessly.

"We hope to help her push her unique mix of vintage soul mixed with 1980s pop out to a wider audience. Once heard, Rosie's music cannot fail to move you."

Rosie will shortly be supporting the pop rock band Lawson on tour, and her EP My Friend Ben, named after the former lead singer of local band Safehaus who sadly passed away a few years ago, is due for release on Friday (October 22).

Rosie's mum Nicola told Glastonbury Nub News: "Ben was a wonderful musician, teacher and songwriter.

"He worked with Rosie while she was developing her songwriter and working hard to self teach herself the guitar and other instruments.

"She has missed him terribly, and only this year she wrote this song while her album was being recorded.

"I am in contact with his brother as he has been very supportive and interested in Rosie's musical development."

Rosie has lived in Street since the age of 11. For the last three years she has been studying for a degree at Rose Bruford BA Hons Actor/Musician and has just gained a First.

She gained her place after many rigorous auditions, where 4,000 applicants competed for just 16 places.

Although an athlete for many years, she started singing lessons when she was 10 and her passion for acting took off.

Nicola said: "She self taught herself the acoustic guitar/electric and bass along with the drums and more recently, while at uni, the trumpet.

"Songwriting has been her passion throughout her childhood. Many people keep a diary or journal, Rosie likes to speak through her music about herself, others and sometimes fictitious scenarios.

"In May this year a chance phone call led to a meeting at Abbey Road with internationally renowned producers who have sold more than 50 million records worldwide.

"They were impressed with her material and wanted her to record her debut album. The album was recorded at Abbey Road and will be released in 2022."
