Street and Glastonbury will honour Remembrance Day with a series of events, including parades, wreath-laying ceremonies, and memorial services. Here's the full schedule, in date and time order, for those wishing to join the commemorations and pay tribute to those who served.

Remembrance Sunday – Sunday, 10 November 2024

On Remembrance Sunday, both Street and Glastonbury will hold their main remembrance events, inviting residents to attend and participate.

Glastonbury Remembrance Sunday Events

In Glastonbury, Remembrance Sunday events will begin in the morning on 10 November. At 11:00 am, a wreath-laying ceremony will take place at the War Memorial on the High Street. Following this, a Remembrance service will be held from 11:15 am to 12:15 pm at St John's Church, also on the High Street.

Street Remembrance Parade and Service

Street's Remembrance Parade will take place in the afternoon. Participants will gather at the Royal British Legion on Farm Road at 2:15 pm, forming up under the guidance of the Parade Marshal. At 2:30 pm, the parade will set off, marching up Farm Road and along the High Street, with a brief stop at the United Reformed Church (URC) Memorial Garden for a wreath-laying ceremony.

The parade will then continue to Merriman Park, where a full Service of Remembrance and additional wreath-laying will take place. After the service, the parade will march back to the Royal British Legion, where refreshments will be provided for attendees. Street Parish Council encourages the public to line the route to show support and respect as the parade passes.

Glastonbury Armistice Day Service – Monday, 11 November 2024

Glastonbury will continue its commemorations on Armistice Day, Monday, 11 November, with a short service at the War Memorial on the High Street. The ceremony will begin at 11:00 am, marking the armistice signing that ended World War I. A two-minute silence will be observed at 11:11 am in memory of those who served.

These events offer the communities of Street and Glastonbury a chance to come together, reflect, and pay tribute to those who served and sacrificed. By participating, residents and visitors alike honour the enduring values of unity and remembrance.
