More than 150 Santas took to the ice at Clarks Village, marking the launch of the shopping outlet's festive ice rink with a record-breaking event.

The 'World's Biggest Santa Skate' saw 155 participants donning Santa suits for what organisers are calling the "jolliest ice skate of all time". The event, which featured an appearance from Father Christmas himself, set out to claim the title for the most ice-skating Santas.

To celebrate the rink's grand opening, Clarks Village gifted free tickets to participants and handed out special rosettes and certificates for the best-dressed Santas. Guests were delighted to meet the real Santa, who joined in the festivities and helped spread the Christmas cheer.

The ice rink, featuring 500 square metres of real ice, is now open daily (except Christmas Day) until 5 January. Located on the lawn of the Alfred Gillett Trust, with access via the restaurant terrace, the rink is wheelchair and buggy friendly. Special sessions include 2-for-1 discounts, quiet sessions, parent-and-toddler skates, and disco nights.

Chris Davis, Centre Director of Clarks Village, said: "We're thrilled to see our festive ice rink return to Clarks Village and to watch so many Santas have fun on the ice was spectacular. Breaking the record for the most ice-skating Santas was an incredible way to kick off the Christmas season."

Guests praised the event for its festive atmosphere and joyful energy. Amanda White, who attended with her eight-year-old daughter Lily-May, said: "We really enjoyed it. Meeting Father Christmas was amazing. It was a lovely evening, the atmosphere was fantastic, and everyone was having a great time. We'll definitely be booking to come back."

Another guest, Tayo Evans, added: "It was wonderful to see so many people enjoying themselves and helping each other. It was well organised, and everyone made a great Santa effort. We had a great time."
