Police alert Mendip rural areas after reports of suspicious vehicles and individuals assessing farm CCTV.

Police are warning rural communities across the Mendips to remain vigilant following reports of suspicious vehicles stopping outside farm buildings and individuals checking CCTV locations.

According to Wells Neighbourhood Policing Team, there have been multiple sightings of people acting suspiciously around farmyards, with some individuals seen wearing balaclavas.

Officers believe the activity could be linked to rural crime, thefts, or potential break-ins.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "We are aware of reports of suspicious vehicles stopping outside farm buildings and individuals appearing to scope out properties. Our officers will be carrying out extra patrols across the Mendips to deter criminal activity and identify those responsible."

Farmers and rural residents are urged to secure their property, check CCTV systems, and report any suspicious activity to police via 101. If a crime is in progress, call 999 immediately.
