Police are appealing for witnesses and any available dashcam or CCTV footage after a collision on the A39 Wirral Park roundabout in Glastonbury on Wednesday evening, 28 August.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:45pm when a silver Nissan Micra was involved in a head-on collision with an ambulance.

At the time of the crash, the ambulance crew was transporting a patient to hospital, but neither the emergency lights nor the sirens were activated.

Emergency services quickly responded to the scene. The patient, who was being transported in the ambulance, was transferred to another vehicle to continue their journey to the hospital. The driver and passenger of the Nissan Micra, as well as the ambulance crew, were taken to hospital as a precaution and have since been discharged.

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: "At 20:43 on Wednesday 28 August, one of our ambulances transporting a patient to hospital was involved in a road traffic collision near Glastonbury. We dispatched four double-crewed land ambulances and an Operations Officer to the scene. The patient on board the ambulance at the time of the collision continued their journey to hospital in another ambulance. A further two patients were also conveyed to hospital. The incident will be investigated by the police, and it is therefore inappropriate to make any further comment at this time."

Police are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has information about a third vehicle that did not stop at the scene. This vehicle was travelling in the same direction as the Nissan Micra towards Glastonbury, while the ambulance was heading towards Street.

Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is urged to contact the police on 101, quoting reference number 5224227652.
