Avon and Somerset Police are appealing for information following a three-vehicle collision on the A39 near Coxley yesterday evening (18 December), which resulted in injuries to a woman and a child.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:20pm and led to the closure of the A39 between Glastonbury and Wells for several hours.

Police have indicated that mud on the road may have contributed to the crash by affecting the vehicles' grip.

A police spokesperson said: "We were called at 3:24pm to attend a two-vehicle collision on the A39 Glastonbury Road in Wells. Two people, a woman and a child, sustained injuries which are not believed to be serious."

Traffic was diverted via Shepton Mallet as congestion built up on alternative routes, including the Strawberry Way Roundabout.

The road was eventually reopened late in the evening after recovery and clean-up operations were completed.

Police are now asking anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage of the incident to come forward. Those with information can contact Avon and Somerset Police on 101, quoting reference number 5223401234.
