Plans have been submitted to Mendip District Council for the demolition of a home at a farm on the edge of Glastonbury, and a new house being built on the site in its place.

A planning application to demolish an existing dwelling and replace with a new dwelling and associated works at Cold Harbour Farm, Meare Road, Glastonbury, has been submitted by Mr and Mrs Toye.

The applicants own Cold Harbour Farm and a family member has lived in the house found on the application site for the past 30 years.

However, the building is in a poor state of repair and is now redundant as a suitable place to live, which is why the application for the new house has been made.

The applicant would like to slightly re-locate the replacement dwelling further into the site so that it is further from the access track and the agricultural buildings to the south east.

The access to the site would be enhanced but in the main will remain the same as found at present, which is from Meare Road over the stream.

The replacement dwelling would have four bedrooms over two storeys and although the replacement dwelling is slightly larger than the dwelling it is to replace, the application says the size of the plot ensures that a suitable enjoyable amount of garden can be provided for the applicant as well as a suitably-sized gravel courtyard for vehicles to park and turn.
