A planning application has been submitted to convert Unit 1 at the Bayliss Centre in Street from a retail shop into a takeaway and restaurant.

The unit, currently occupied by 7 System Computers, could become a Fireaway pizza restaurant and takeaway if the plans are approved.

The proposal, submitted by Mrs Gopi Patel of V16designz Ltd, seeks permission for a change of use from retail to a food and drink establishment. It also includes the installation of a 320mm diameter extractor duct with a dark grey finish, extending one metre above the roof eaves, and a new fascia sign made from a black composite panel with an orange logo.

The premises, measuring 99.19 square metres, would undergo minimal external alterations beyond the signage and extraction system.

The council will now consider the application, with residents invited to submit comments via the planning portal. A decision is expected in the coming weeks.
