Oyez! Glastonbury welcomes new town crier in Beltane bonanza

Glastonbury has a new voice ringing through its historic streets – and it's anything but shy.
Brad Crowley has officially been named the town's new Town Crier, stepping into a centuries-old tradition with gusto, ceremonial flair, and a voice loud enough to stop traffic on the High Street.
Locals got their first taste of Brad's vocal talents this morning at 10am, when he opened the annual Beltane celebrations – a vibrant fixture on the Glastonbury calendar that marks the beginning of summer with music, ritual and community spirit.
Dressed in full regalia and armed with the classic crier's bell, Brad made his debut in front of a cheerful crowd, many of whom had gathered in festival dress for the seasonal celebration. The moment was met with warm applause and a few hearty "Oyez!" replies from the crowd.
The role of Town Crier, once vital for public announcements, now serves a more ceremonial function – and in Glastonbury, where myth and tradition are very much alive, it couldn't feel more at home.
Brad is expected to appear at town events throughout the year, bringing pageantry and a touch of theatrical pomp to proceedings.
