Glastonbury is set to host a new community gathering focused on silent meditation with the launch of MASS on Sunday, 23rd June 2024, at the Assembly Rooms.

The weekly event aims to offer locals and visitors an opportunity to explore inner stillness in a serene setting.

MASS provides a space - every Sunday - where individuals can engage in silent reflection, away from daily distractions.

The low-lit, audio-sensory experience features soft music, the sound of water, and a candle-lit environment designed to help participants connect deeply with their inner selves.

The event is inclusive, welcoming people of all faiths, beliefs, identities, and sexualities. To maintain a sober and contemplative atmosphere, the use of alcohol or illegal drugs is prohibited.

Attendees can visit MASS anytime between 11 AM and 8 PM, with a £4 admission fee payable at the door. No RSVP is required, and participants can enter and exit the main event space as they wish. To preserve the meditative environment, conversation and mobile phones are not allowed in the meditation area. However, attendees can enjoy refreshments and social interactions at the adjoining Awen Cafe.

The launch of MASS follows a successful soft opening, with positive feedback from participants. Lynne Sedgmore, an attendee, described the experience as "exquisite, innovative, and calming," praising the thoughtful arrangement of the space and the variety of seating options available.

MASS aims to serve as a peaceful retreat and a community hub for relaxation and connection. The initiative was created by local residents Caty Keen and Morgana Donfrancesco, who are dedicated to fostering spiritual well-being.
