New builds, extensions, and upgrades: latest planning moves in Street, Glastonbury, Wells, and Shepton Mallet

From poolside makeovers to sustainable upgrades, planning applications across Street, Glastonbury, Wells, and Shepton Mallet are making headlines this week. Among the highlights, Hill House in Street has applied for a major refurbishment, including a new pool house extension, while plans in Glastonbury propose replacing a garage with a new home on The Roman Way. Here's the latest on what's in the pipeline across Somerset.

Shepton Mallet

  • A fresh UPVC window is lined up for 27 Society Road. (Ref: 2024/1875/HSE)
  • A twist on past plans for three homes on Bowlish Lane: swapping stonework for render and tweaking drawings. (Ref: 2024/1849/VRC)

Street

  • Hill House on Slugg Hill is in for a big facelift. There's a new pool house on the cards, with the current pool set for relocation. (Ref: 2024/1919/HSE)
  • At 42 Hempitts Road, a second-storey extension over the garage and a rear extension are proposed, adding space to the family setup. (Ref: 2024/1886/HSE)

Glastonbury

  • Lidl's store on Strawberry Way South moves closer to reality with green lights on acoustic fences, lighting plans, and noise management. Plus, bike and motorbike parking details are firmed up. (Ref: 2024/1882/APP)
  • Over in Wookey, The Old Coach House is set for a sustainable switch with a new heat pump installation. (Ref: 2024/1379/HSE)
