Millfield prep pupils excel in national computing challenge

Twenty-eight pupils from Millfield Prep School in Glastonbury have excelled in a national computing contest, achieving top marks.

Among them, Zach Hunter Dunn, Bella Lloyd, Jasmine Pendsay, and Hadley Chen Xuan Squibb stood out, earning gold certificates for ranking in the top 10% nationally for their age group.

Zach Hunter Dunn achieved the highest score among his peers at Millfield Prep, earning him a 'Best in School' certificate.

The Bebras Challenge, part of an international effort to encourage informatics and computational thinking among students, consists of a series of online problems known as Bebras tasks. This initiative is designed to engage pupils of all ages in the world of computing.

This year's UK Bebras Challenge saw participation from over 400,000 students nationwide, with more than 115,000 competing in the same category as Millfield Prep's Year 7 pupils.

Jonathan Ford, who is the Head of Computing and ICT at Millfield Prep, said: "The Bebras Challenge provides pupils with a fantastic chance to showcase the progress they've made in their programming and coding skills throughout the current academic year."

He added, "the challenges were complex and we are therefore extremely proud of pupils hard work and successful results."
