Glastonbury building contractors Melhuish and Saunders have completed the extension to the Avalon Plastics factory in the town.

The project was to extend the side of the existing facility to allow for greater capacity, thereby enhancing business operations.

The development has been designed by Chris Donoghue of Wootton Donoghue Architects, based in the Red Brick Building, Glastonbury, and Melhuish and Saunders worked closely with them as well as the team at Avalon Plastics.

Melhuish and Saunders head of business development and lead generator, Sophie Pierre, said: "We enjoyed working with both and we look forward to working together in the future."

During the work, Melhuish and Saunders celebrated NHS and key workers by installing a rainbow banner at the site.

Following the discovery of political graffiti on the temporary site hoardings at the rear of the factory site on Street Road, Glastonbury, managing director Darryl Mitchard responded with a positive NHS statement of his own.

He commissioned Glastonbury firm Em Print and Signs to produce large scale weatherproof banners which are put up there as well as at all live construction sites in the Somerset and Bristol areas.
