Obi Wan Kenobi, Darth Vader and a Storm Trooper were among those out in (the) force for the Glastonbury Road Run today (May 5, 2019.)
Supporting the hundreds of runners who were out for the races, the streets of Glastonbury were packed full of supporters to cheer every last runner over the finish line.
Runners from across the South West turned up for the event, which includes a 5k, 3k, 10k as well as a fun run for the less-athletically inclined.
The town's 10K Race is one of the largest road race events in the county of Somerset, and follows a mainly rural course that starts and finishes within a stone's throw of Glastonbury Abbey.
Allan Trinder from GFM was on hand to provide live commentary, ad hoc interviews and motivational music to help get people over the line.
It was perfect running weather, with temperatures of around 12 degrees and the sun making the odd appearance from behind the clouds here and there.
As always there was a good showing from all the local running clubs, including the Wells Harriers, Quantock Harriers and Burnham-on-Sea Harriers. Millfield School from Street were also out in numbers - either taking part or cheering on their classmates.
The full results will be posted later on the official Glastonbury Road Run website.
