Avon and Somerset Police have confirmed that a man has died following a car fire in Glastonbury yesterday (May 14).

The police were called to the fire in Back River Drove at around 6pm yesterday, as was an air ambulance and fire crews from Street and Glastonbury.

A spokesperson for the police said: "We were called to attend a car fire in Back River Drove, Glastonbury, at about 6pm yesterday.

"Sadly, a man was found inside the car and despite the efforts of paramedics, he died from his injuries. His death is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious.

"We've notified his family and are supporting them at this very difficult time. We're continuing to make further enquiries on behalf of the Coroner's office."
