Man charged in fatal Street collision appears in court

A 30-year-old man appeared at South Somerset Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, 5 June, in connection with a fatal collision that occurred in Street last year

The incident, which took place on Green Lane Avenue at approximately 5:20pm on Thursday, 16 March, involved a pedestrian and a Transit van. Tragically, the pedestrian, an 83-year-old woman, succumbed to her injuries.

Reece James McKinven, of Pearmain Road, Street, faces charges of causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving, causing death by driving a vehicle without a licence, causing death by driving a vehicle without insurance, and possession of a class B drug (cannabis).

During the hearing, McKinven did not enter a plea. He is scheduled to appear next at Taunton Crown Court on Monday, 8 July, where the case will continue.
