Man airlifted to hospital after A39 crash in Walton

A man was airlifted to hospital after a three-vehicle crash in Walton yesterday afternoon.

The collision on the A39, near the Walton Gateway, closed the road between Taunton Road and Westway Roundabout just after 3pm.

The road closure caused significant problems for motorists caught up in the aftermath of the collision as the roads around Street began to fill with traffic.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "We were called at around 3pm on Thursday 6 April) to the A39 Main Street, in Walton near Street, following reports of a three-vehicle road traffic collision.

"The road was closed from Taunton Road to Westway Roundabout while emergency services attend the scene.

"One person has been taken to hospital and the remaining parties involved were treated for minor injuries at the scene."

The condition of the motorist air-lifted to hospital is not known at the of writing.
