With only days remaining until its closure on 13th October, the Boots branch in Glastonbury is making final preparations to shutter its doors.

This is part of a larger, national plan to cease operations in about 300 shops across the UK, reducing the company's total number of stores from roughly 2,200 to almost 1,900.

For Glastonbury residents, the closure of Boots and the earlier shutting of Tesco's pharmacy on 20th August leaves just Knights Pharmacy in Feversham Lane to serve the community's pharmaceutical needs.

James Kehoe, global chief financial officer at parent company Walgreens Boots Alliance, stated, "We will continue to optimise our locations and opening hours, and expect to close an additional 300 locations in the UK and 150 locations in the US."

The Comic Store has revealed that it will take over the soon-to-be empty Boots premises, opening its doors on 1st December.

Owner Paul Chambers confirmed the relocation in a heartfelt Facebook post, thanking landlords, family, friends, and loyal customers for their unwavering support over the years. "2024 is going to be amazing," he said.
