St Dunstan's School in Glastonbury marked International Women's Day by inviting students to bring a female friend or relative in for an afternoon of celebration and reflection.

Students and guests were greeted with cakes and tea / coffee and had the opportunity to talk in a relaxed environment. They had already selected two sessions to take part in, choosing from:

  • Art / painting
  • STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths)
  • Sport
  • Drama games

It gave groups a chance to spend quality time together and many groups included mothers and grandmothers. The school's core values of kindness and resilience were in abundance and female members of staff ran the sessions.

A spokesperson for the school said they enjoyed the afternoon so much they hope to roll out a bigger event for next year.
