Have you ever wondered who the most intriguing personality from Glastonbury might be, according to the digital encyclopedia Wikipedia?

The Pudding's innovative interactive map, which swaps out UK place names for their most Wikipedia-searched individuals, has given us the answer.

And the title goes to... Henry Fielding!

Renowned for his wit and satirical prowess, Henry Fielding (22 April 1707 – 8 October 1754) stands as Glastonbury's most enquired-about figure. Not merely a resident, Fielding was born in the area, at Sharpham, and went on to leave an indelible mark on English literature and even law enforcement.

Best known for his humorous narrative style and satirical edge, Fielding's legacy lives on through works such as the celebrated novel "Tom Jones." His literary journey began after his education at Eton College, where he formed a significant friendship with William Pitt the Elder, a relationship that lasted throughout his life.

But Fielding's contributions weren't confined to the realm of literature. As a magistrate, he played a pivotal role in establishing the Bow Street Runners, heralding the inception of what would evolve into modern policing in London. This dual legacy as both a foundational figure in the English novel and a pioneer in law enforcement cements his place as a figure of historical and cultural significance.

So, did you predict that Henry Fielding would be the figure most associated with Glastonbury in the annals of Wikipedia?
