Glastonbury Town Hall is set to open its doors to the public on Saturday, April 13, from 11am to 3pm, for a unique Open Day dedicated to the Glastonbury Town Deal.

This event offers residents and local business owners a prime opportunity to explore the wide array of "diverse and inspiring" projects poised to transform the town.

In a landmark move in September 2022, Glastonbury was awarded a substantial £23.6 million Towns Fund grant by the Government, aimed at fuelling growth in the local economy, enhancing infrastructure and facilities, and bolstering support for local enterprises.

Scheduled for completion by March 2026, these initiatives promise to usher in a new era of prosperity and development for Glastonbury. Attendees at the Open Day will gain firsthand insight into the project timelines, specifics, and the impact they will have on the community.

Dr Lynne Sedgmore CBE, Chair of the Glastonbury Town Deal Board, shared her enthusiasm for the progress being made. "A lot of hard work has been happening behind the scenes to prepare for the build phase of these projects. We're now seeing the fruits of our labour, and it's thrilling to anticipate the tangible changes our community will soon witness," she stated.

Councillor Ros Wyke, Executive Lead Member for Prosperity, Assets and Development at Somerset Council, highlighted the early successes of the initiative, particularly the new multi-use paths at the Tor Leisure site. "This is just the beginning of our efforts to enhance our path network. By 2026, we aim to have added 2.5km of accessible paths for walking and wheeling, seamlessly connecting to existing pathways and key projects within the town," Cllr Wyke explained.

The Mayor of Glastonbury, Indra Donfrancesco, extended a warm invitation to the event: "We're excited to welcome everyone to the Open Day. It's a fantastic opportunity for those looking to volunteer, involve their business, or simply stay informed about the developments in their area. There's no need to register – just come along and discover what's in store for Glastonbury."
