Glastonbury town centre disturbance leads to two arrests
Two individuals have been arrested in Glastonbury town centre after failing to comply with a police-issued dispersal notice at the end of last week.
The Glastonbury Neighbourhood police officers were called to the scene of a public disturbance involving two men. In an attempt to de-escalate the situation and maintain public order, the officers served the individuals with a dispersal notice. This order required the men to vacate the town centre immediately and prohibited their return for a 48-hour period.
However, the individuals chose not to adhere to the police directive. Their refusal to comply with the conditions of the dispersal notice led to their immediate arrest.
Following their detention, both men were formally charged with the offence of failing to comply with a dispersal order.
A police spokesman confirmed that the individuals in question are scheduled to attend court later this month.
"The Glastonbury Neighbourhood police officers are committed to ensuring the safety and peace of our town centre," he said. "Non-compliance with dispersal orders is taken very seriously, and we will ensure those disregarding such directives face appropriate legal consequences."
