Glastonbury Tor has been recognised as one of the top places in the UK for scattering ashes, according to a survey conducted by Racingclub.com. The Tor ranked 129th on the list of 250 top spots where people would hypothetically choose to scatter their loved ones' ashes if restrictions didn't apply.

However, grieving families are being reminded to ensure they follow the correct laws and permissions before scattering ashes at the historic site.

The survey, which asked 3,000 Brits for their preferred final resting place, revealed the Tor's enduring appeal due to its stunning views over the Somerset Levels and rich spiritual history. A spokesperson for Racingclub.com commented, "The results of this survey offer a fascinating insight into the places that hold the most sentimental value for Brits. It's clear that, given the choice, people would like their final resting place to be somewhere that resonates with their personal journey and the collective memory of the nation."

While Glastonbury Tor may seem like an ideal spot for scattering ashes, Simplicity Cremations is reminding mourners of the need to secure permission first.

"You are free to scatter cremation ashes anywhere in the UK, provided you have the permission of the landowner," the cremation provider explains. For iconic locations like Glastonbury Tor, it's important to follow the correct procedures to ensure respect for the site's cultural and natural significance.

Other Somerset locations that featured in the survey include Cheddar Gorge (ranked 49th) and Wells Cathedral (209th), both known for their scenic and historical value.

For more information on how to scatter ashes legally and respectfully, consult the local authorities.
