Glastonbury shop theft arrest leads to charge and premises ban
By Laura Linham 22nd Oct 2026
A man has been charged after being arrested in Glastonbury in connection with a number of shop theft offences. Police said he had been released on bail with conditions preventing him from entering several premises.
The arrest took place as officers continued an operation targeting shop theft across the Mendips. Police have not named the man or identified the premises covered by his bail conditions.
Avon and Somerset Police said officers were working with retailers and partner agencies to identify suspects and investigate offences.
The force also appealed to businesses and residents to continue reporting thefts and suspicious behaviour.
In a statement, police said: "We understand the real impact that shop theft has on businesses, employees and the wider community. We will continue to work closely with retailers and partner agencies to identify offenders, take positive action and pursue those responsible."
The force said reports help officers build intelligence and identify repeat offenders. Anyone witnessing a crime in progress should call 999, while non-emergency incidents can be reported through 101 or the Avon and Somerset Police website.
