Glastonbury is on the hunt for its next Citizen of the Year, calling on the community to nominate those unsung heroes who dedicate their time and efforts for the betterment of the town.

This prestigious accolade celebrates individuals who have made significant contributions to making Glastonbury a vibrant place to live, work, and grow.

The annual award shines a light on those who often go unnoticed despite their invaluable work supporting the elderly, youth projects, and local businesses, often without any expectation of reward. It's an opportunity for the town to acknowledge and appreciate the hard work and dedication of someone who has positively impacted the lives of Glastonbury's residents.

Criteria for the Citizen of the Year include voluntary service that enhances community well-being, a positive influence on fellow citizens, dedication to community and concern for others, and involvement in local committees or volunteer organizations. Additionally, nominees should exhibit enthusiasm for Glastonbury's development, teamwork spirit, and the virtues of honesty and integrity.

Nominations are open until 3pm on Friday, 5th April 2024, and can be submitted through an online form or in person at the Glastonbury Information Centre. The community is encouraged to put forward names of those who tirelessly work behind the scenes for the love of the town.

The honour will be awarded by the Mayor, Cllr Indra Donfrancesco, at the Annual Town Meeting on 23rd April 2024, marking a special moment to celebrate Glastonbury's community spirit and the individuals who foster it.
