A man who was publicly shamed after being caught pooping in flowers outside of a Glastonbury business has returned to the scene of his crime to say sorry - but reneged on a promise to pay for the damage he had caused.

Last week we reported how the man was captured on CCTV having a poo in the plants outside of Glastonbury Galleries, owned by Ruth Morland.

She was forced to clean up the mess, but realised the man had been caught red handed on her security cameras.

She printed off the footage and displayed it on an advertising board which she put up in Glastonbury High Street, in the hopes that someone could identify the mystery pooper.

Today, she told Nub News that the man had come forward to apologise for his actions.

"He came down to see me just as we were shutting up on Saturday evening and admitted it was him. I had already been told his name and I think he had little choice really," she said.

"He did apologise quite genuinely I felt, saying that he had had little chance of getting to the toilets in time."

But an unimpressed Ruth told him off for his actions, saying that he could have come back to clean up after himself, and that doing it in such a public place could have led to a child "plonking their hand in the mess".

"He said he would reimburse that cost of the plants he'd destroyed which was £15 and he would bring that to me on Tuesday when I said that I would not put out the A frame again and I hoped he would soon get over all the ribbing he had been getting," she said.

"I did accept his apology, but feel somewhat aggrieved that he still hasn't been in with any recompense which he had promised. I probably won't see that, and I don't have any way of forcing him.

"A little recompense would certainly have helped to 'close the case', I know we've all had good laugh, but it was a pretty horrible incident all the same."
