The temporary pedestrianisation of a number of roads in Glastonbury, including the High Street, has unexpectedly been lifted.

The announcement was made today (July 17) although the lifting of the closure of the road to traffic was made yesterday.

According to Somerset County Council it was made: " Due to safety concerns for marshals."

Under coronavirus guidelines Glastonbury High Street, Magdalene Street and Benedict Street were blocked to cars and lorries.

In a post on social media SCC revealed the change and urged road users to be courteous.

The Glastonbury High Street closure was due to be imposed until mid-August.

But it was reviewed at the last meeting of Glastonbury Town Council (July 14).
