Glastonbury hails Lando Norris and Indigo Hinton at council

By Laura Linham   11th Dec 2025

Glastonbury Town Council has publicly congratulated Formula 1 world champion Lando Norris and Emmy award-winning screenwriter Indigo Hinton, both of whom have strong ties to the town.

Opening the latest full council meeting, the mayor, Councillor Michael White, reflected on two "extraordinary journeys" that began in local schools and neighbourhoods, saying both young achievers had inspired deep pride across the community.

Lando Norris, who attended Millfield School in Street, was hailed for his dominant 2025 season, which included seven race wins, 18 podiums and 423 championship points — earning him the Formula 1 Drivers' World Championship title.

Indigo Hinton was praised for winning the 2025 Sir Peter Ustinov Television Scriptwriting Award — a prestigious International Emmy accolade celebrating emerging global talent.

"These achievements mean something special for us here," the mayor said. "They remind us that extraordinary journeys can begin anywhere — in our local schools, our local clubs, our local neighbourhoods.

"Lando and Indigo's successes show that young people growing up in Glastonbury can go on to stand among the very best in the world."

The speech ended with a message for local children and teenagers: "To every young person in our town… you have every right and ability to chase your ambitions with confidence — and you have a community here that believes in you wholeheartedly."
