Glastonbury fundraiser in Merlin’s memory raises £552

A community gathering held in memory of Glastonbury's much-loved "town wizard" has raised £552.61 for the Community Fridge he supported.
Residents gathered at the Market Cross on Sunday, 26 April, to celebrate the life of Ray "Merlin" Rutter.
The event featured live drumming, a magic show and tributes from friends and supporters, with people encouraged to wear wizard hats and robes.
Merlin, who died last February aged 77, was a familiar figure in Glastonbury and well known for offering rune readings outside Glastonbury Abbey.
He became one of the town's most recognisable characters, with visitors often stopping to speak with him or take photographs.
The fundraiser was organised in support of Love Glastonbury's Community Fridge — a project friends said Merlin cared deeply about.
Organiser Sam Rose Lambert confirmed that £552.61 raised from the event has now been received by the charity.
She said: "Merlin would be proud to know he is still helping the Community Fridge he cared so much about. His magic continues through all of us."
The Community Fridge helps reduce food waste while supporting people who need extra help.
