A Glastonbury fish and chip shop has been shortlisted in the 2026 National Fish & Chip Awards.

Knights Fish Restaurant is one of 40 businesses from across the UK to make the shortlist in the Takeaway of the Year category. The annual awards, organised by the National Federation of Fish Friers, recognise excellence across the industry and are widely regarded as the sector's most prestigious competition.

Judging for the Takeaway of the Year category will now move into its next phase, with assessments covering product quality, hygiene, environmental and operational sustainability, customer service, and industry knowledge.

Knights will compete alongside other takeaways from coastal towns, rural communities and major cities, as the competition progresses towards the semi-finals. The top ten finalists will be announced later this year, ahead of the awards ceremony in London in February.

Andrew Crook, president of the National Federation of Fish Friers, said this year's entries had revealed a number of new contenders alongside returning businesses committed to improving standards.

The competition is free to enter and provides entrants with detailed feedback to help support continuous improvement.
