Glastonbury firefighters helped put out a large hay fire on the Somerset Levels over the weekend.

Fire crews from the town joined others from Bridgwater, Taunton, Somerton, Wiveliscombe and Yeovil in dealing with the blaze in Thorngrove, near Middlezoy, overnight from Saturday December 14 into Sunday December 15.

The hay pile measured approximately 15m by 15m and crews used a compressed air foam jet, two hose reel jets, two attack jets and two dams from the water bowser.

The cause of the fire was determined as accidental.
