Firefighters from Glastonbury helped to successfully rescue a pony from a rhyne in Wedmore yesterday afternoon (July 22).

Just before 2.30pm, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue control received a call reporting a pony stuck in a water-filled rhyne in Wedmore.

One fire engine and a specialist rescue appliance (SRT), from Bridgwater and Glastonbury, attended the incident.

With the assistance from the SRT, crews were able to enter the water and rescue the horse with forward assistance.
