Three fire engines were called to Sydenhams timber yard in Glastonbury this morning after a blaze broke out in a skip filled with wood chippings.

Firefighters attended the premises on Porchestall Drove at around 10.35 am on Wednesday, 30 September.

The fire was burning in a commercial skip inside the business's secure yard. Crews used foam to extinguish the blaze and put drain protection in place as a precaution.

Footage shared by Glastonbury Nub News showed firefighters working at the scene as emergency services dealt with the incident.

The fire appeared to be under control when the footage was recorded, although details of the cause were still being established.

The fire service has now confirmed that the blaze was accidental following a review of CCTV footage from the site.

In its update, the service said: "The skip was located within a secure commercial yard and firefighters used foam to extinguish the fire. Drain protection was also put in place as a precaution to prevent any further spread."

It added: "The fire was confirmed as accidental following a review of CCTV footage at the site."
