Fire appliances from Wells, Glastonbury and Street attended a domestic property fire in the city which originated from the oven in the kitchen.

They were called out in the early evening yesterday (December 27) .

Upon arrival crews confirmed the property to be heavily smoke logged and got to work with four breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, another safety jet and thermal imaging cameras.

Crews requested a further fire appliance from Somerton for additional personnel.

The British Red Cross were at the address to help assist the family.

The cause of this incident is believed to be accidental.
