A crew from Glastonbury were among three who were called to a kitchen fire in Street yesterday evening (June 6).

Just before 6.30pm, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service control received a call to Street reporting a fire in the kitchen of a domestic property.

Fire engines from Street, Glastonbury, and Somerton were quickly mobilised to the scene and on arrival, crews confirmed a fire in the kitchen on the cooker and work tops.

The property was safely evacuated and crews extinguished the fire using four breathing apparatus, a hose reel jet, a safety jet, two thermal imaging cameras, an extinguisher, one positive pressure ventilation fan, and small tools.

The fire is believed to be accidental.
