Glastonbury Community Christmas Lunch needs organisers
By Laura Linham 29th Sep 2026
Glastonbury's Community Christmas Lunch may not go ahead this year unless volunteers can be found to organise it.
Glastonbury Town Council says there are currently too few people able to take on the lead roles needed to put on a meal for hundreds.
The council is looking for a head chef, a front of house coordinator, a volunteer coordinator and people to lead kitchen work and food preparation.
It said: "Without volunteers stepping forward to fill these positions, the Community Christmas Lunch simply cannot take place."
The annual lunch has always been organised by local volunteers, although councillors have helped out alongside other members of the community over the years.
The town council said it can make the Town Hall and kitchen available, but it does not organise or run the event.
It is asking people with experience in catering, hospitality, event organising or managing volunteers to consider taking on one of the roles. People with the time to help lead part of the lunch are also being encouraged to come forward.
Anyone who thinks they could help can respond to the town council's appeal.
