This weekend, the picturesque locales of Glastonbury and Street are set to host an eclectic mix of events that promise to sprinkle a dash of excitement onto the usual canvas of Somerset life.

From the shadowy depths of gothic beats to the wholesome charm of model railways, the agenda is as varied as the contents of a magician's hat.

Get ready for the downward spiral with a night of gothic, industrial and EBM music at the Assembly Rooms. Thanks to the enigmatic ensemble of Chaoss, DJ Missy Malice/DV-Ant, and Jimmy Hayes it'll be a night where the dark meets the danceable, and for just £5, you can be part of this nocturnal adventure. Strap on your New Rocks and find out more about this twilight escapade here.

Not to be outshone, the Dragon Dance Full Moon Party at the Assembly Rooms promises an evening where the full moon isn't the only thing that will leave you awe-struck. DJs Charliklo, Cloud and Owl, and DJ Ether are set to weave a musical spell that's sure to keep your feet moving. With tickets at £10 in advance and £15 for those who decide to follow the moonlit path to the door, it's an invitation to dance beneath the celestial glow. Dance details await here.

Shine on you crazy diamonds - for those whose tastes lean more towards the classic, the Thought Control tribute to Pink Floyd at Strode Theatre offers a time machine back to the golden era of rock. Immerse yourself in a spectacle of sound and light as "Another Brick In The Wall" and "Comfortably Numb" fill the air, proving that good music, much like fine wine, only gets better with age. Starts at 7.30pm on Saturday, with tickets available from the box office.

If the great outdoors is more your scene, why not check out the Street RC Club's Open Day? It's an opportunity to rediscover the joy of tangible entertainment in the form of remote-controlled cars. The event is free, proving that priceless fun doesn't have to cost a thing. Head over to the Victoria Club in Street at 10.30am and see what's going on.

Board game enthusiasts, gather your party for the Monthly Board Game Meet at The Geeky Gamer. It's a realm where strategy, luck, and a bit of friendly competition come together. Whether you bring your own board or dive into a new quest, it's all about playing the day away - from 11am on Sunday.

Lastly, the Model Railway Exhibition hosted by the Glastonbury & Street Lions Club promises a journey through miniature landscapes and a chance to pay tribute to Howard Martin, a giant among model railway enthusiasts. This exhibition isn't just about trains; it's about community, craftsmanship, and, of course, those irresistible homemade cakes. All aboard for a nostalgic journey here. The event runs from 10am to 3.30pm at the Meadway Hall in Compton Dundon. Tickets are £5 for adults and £1 for children.

So, there you have it — a weekend packed with unique experiences waiting to unfold in Glastonbury and Street. Whether you're swaying to the rhythm of the night, reminiscing with classic tunes, or indulging in the simple pleasures of model trains, it's all happening here. Don't miss out on the magic; after all, weekends like this are what memories are made of.
