Reported crime in both Glastonbury and Street reached its highest monthly level in a year during July, according to the latest police figures.

Data for the two neighbourhood policing areas shows 160 crimes were recorded in Glastonbury Town during July 2026, while 107 were recorded in Street.

In Glastonbury, the July total was up from 152 in June and was the highest figure recorded across the 12 months from August 2025 to July 2026. The lowest monthly total during that period was 74 in March.

The largest category in Glastonbury was violence and sexual offences, with 50 reports. This is a broad police category which can include offences ranging from assault and threats of violence to sexual offences, so the total should not be read as meaning all 50 incidents involved serious physical injury.

There were also 35 reports of anti-social behaviour, a category which can include nuisance, intimidating or threatening behaviour, street disorder and other incidents causing harassment, alarm or distress.

A further 35 shoplifting offences were recorded, covering thefts from shops and other retail premises.

Police also logged 14 criminal damage and arson offences, which can range from deliberate damage to homes, vehicles and other property through to deliberately setting property alight.

There were nine public order offences, a category which can include threatening or abusive behaviour and disorder, alongside seven vehicle crimes, generally covering theft of or from vehicles, and six other thefts which do not fall into more specific theft categories.

One bicycle theft, one drugs offence, one robbery and one offence recorded under the broad "other crime" category were also logged. Robbery differs from ordinary theft because it involves the use or threat of force.

Of Glastonbury's 160 recorded crimes, 53 were still under investigation when the July data was published. Another 38 were listed as investigations completed with no suspect identified, while 24 were recorded as unable to prosecute a suspect.

Street also recorded its highest monthly total of the previous year, with 107 crimes in July, up from 103 in June. The town had previously recorded 104 crimes in both January and March, while its lowest monthly figure during the period was 59 in April.

As in Glastonbury, violence and sexual offences formed the largest category in Street, with 37 reports. Again, that heading covers a wide range of offences and does not indicate the seriousness or circumstances of individual cases.

There were 20 shoplifting offences, while ten anti-social behaviour incidents were recorded.

Street also saw seven criminal damage and arson offences and seven other thefts, alongside six public order offences and six offences categorised as other crime.

Police recorded five vehicle crimes, as well as three burglaries. Burglary generally involves entering a home or other premises as a trespasser with the intention of stealing or committing another specified offence.

There were also three robberies, where theft involves force or the threat of force, together with single reports of bicycle theft, possession of weapons and theft from the person. Theft from the person covers property taken directly from someone without the force or threat involved in robbery.

Of the 107 crimes recorded in Street during July, 41 were still under investigation when the data was published. Twenty-eight investigations had been completed without a suspect being identified, while 25 cases were recorded as unable to prosecute a suspect.

Across the full 12 months from August 2025 to July 2026, 1,479 crimes were recorded in the Glastonbury Town policing area and 1,064 in Street.

The figures relate to crimes and incidents recorded by police within each neighbourhood area. They do not represent the number of people charged, prosecuted or convicted, and each category can include offences of differing seriousness and circumstances.
